The UAE has announced new visa categories to attract global talent, boost tourism, and support humanitarian needs. The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP) introduced these updates to expand opportunities for professionals, tourists, and entrepreneurs, while also strengthening the country’s competitiveness worldwide.
Major General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, Director General of ICP, explained that the decision followed extensive studies and future-focused assessments. These updates consider regional and global residency trends, customer feedback, and the UAE’s commitment to economic diversification and community security.
The new policies aim to:
Attract top talent in technology, AI, and business.
Support humanitarian needs and family stability.
Enhance tourism and entertainment industries.
Strengthen global trade and transport links.
A special entry visa will now be issued for artificial intelligence experts. This can be single or multiple entry, with a required sponsor or host in the technology sector.
Foreigners visiting the UAE for festivals, exhibitions, conferences, or cultural and sports events can apply for a dedicated event visa. Sponsorship from an authorized hosting entity is mandatory.
Tourists arriving via cruise ships or pleasure boats can obtain a multiple-entry visa, provided they have an approved itinerary and a licensed tour operator as a guarantor.
A one-year humanitarian visa is available for foreigners from countries affected by wars or disasters. Exemptions on financial solvency and kinship requirements may apply in certain cases.
Truck Drivers Visa – Now available for foreign drivers sponsored by shipping or logistics companies.
Visiting Friends & Relatives – Income requirements for sponsors/hosts vary depending on whether the visitor is a first-degree relative, extended family, or a friend.
Business Exploration Visa – Applicants must prove financial solvency or an active business abroad.
Residency for Widows & Divorcees – Conditions have been updated to allow foreign widows and divorcees (with or without children) to remain in the UAE under specific guidelines.
The new visa framework improves flexibility for expatriates, tourists, and professionals alike. Whether you are an AI specialist, a cruise traveler, a humanitarian case, or someone looking to attend world-class events in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, these UAE new visa categories provide tailored pathways to enter and stay in the country.
