As part of its continuous efforts to modernize immigration policy, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced new visa categories and updates to existing visa conditions, effective August 10, 2025. These changes support the country’s push toward innovation, tourism, and humanitarian outreach.
If you’re planning a visit to the UAE, including Dubai tourist visas, or you’re sponsoring someone, this update is especially important.
This visa targets specialists in artificial intelligence. It is available as a single or multiple-entry visit visa with durations of 60 or 90 days, and can be extended up to 120 or 180 days. Applicants must provide an invitation from a UAE-based tech company.
Issued to those participating in commercial gaming activities in the UAE. The visa is valid for 30 days, renewable once for another 30 days. The UAE has not formally defined “commercial gaming,” though it likely refers to video-gaming or esports events. Additional clarity on invitation requirements is still pending.
Supports entry for economic, cultural, sports, religious, educational, or community events. Stays are permitted for 30 or 60 days, extendable to 120 or 180 days. A host entity must issue a letter outlining event details. It is unclear whether that entity must be the event organizer.
A 30-day multiple-entry visa for tourists entering the UAE via cruise ships or leisure boats, extendable by another 30 days. Applicants must submit their travel itinerary, and the host must be a licensed tourism operator.

Applicants must now demonstrate financial solvency aligned with the nature of their planned activities. Showing only talent or qualifications is no longer sufficient.
Eligibility now depends on kinship and sponsor income:
This change replaces the previous system based solely on relationship level and professional job titles.
Foreign widows or divorcees without children are now eligible to apply for a residence permit within six months of the spouse’s death or divorce. Requirements include:
To sponsor six or more relatives, the minimum income required is AED 15,000/month. Authorities may now also grant exceptions to financial or kinship conditions.
Nationals from countries affected by war, disaster, or unrest may now apply without a UAE host. This is typically a single-entry visa. Leaving the UAE invalidates the permit, and eligibility lists will be reviewed regularly.
Now issued for single or multiple entries. No need for GCC sponsor approval. A financial guarantee is now required instead.
